Wanda,
Few words are descriptive enough to tell you what a great time we had at
your retreat. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We were blessed with many of
God's creatures, including a doe and her little Bambi, coons, hummingbirds,
cardinals and several other birds and bugs we had never met before. I very
much enjoyed puttering around. We did several excursions to local parks and a
short canoe ride around Rum Island. We even saw some HUGE catlike prints on
the road, a Florida panther perhaps. I sure would like to have seen it,
whatever it was. I think most of all I enjoyed the quiet (even at night when
we were treated to a serenade). One of the best parts was the fact that our
Metro PCS phones did not work up here--ah, such is bliss! Oh, and so many
stars. Thank you very much.

Wanda and Porter,
We are packed and ready to leave, but we will take with us the beauty of God's
creation, the trees, the animals, the river, the springs, the quiet. Thank you
for allowing us to share your home away from home. It is so warm and inviting.
I will tell others of the great time! I apologize for anything out of sorts. I
look forward to speaking with you soon.
In Jesus' name, I ask God to bless your family and your sweet spirit of
sharing.

We had a wonderful time. Your place is so cute and you have all the

My children Jacob, Carter and Sonny love it here. We will be back.

ROUND 2!
Each time we stay here, it keeps on getting better! We love it and enjoy it so
much. The house is a retreat for us. Dad actually took a bath outside. Where
else could you do something like that? Thanks so much.

Thank you so much for helping us remember how beautiful Florida is and all it
has to offer. We are renewed for the experience of nature, the magnificent
springs and the reunion of spirit. We had a wonderful time and are anxious to
start planning a continuation next summer. We are grateful for the use of your
warm comfortable home.

P.S. This was a treat for Papa – he is 94 years old and really enjoyed the
experience.

Wanda,
Thank you for another awesome stay for
we Mind Walkers. I wrote just a couple of instances of my experiences
communing with nature during my stay.
The gift of the sinkhole to me this
year was the little rusty red frogs, so tiny and delicate that when I saw the
first one I thought that a leaf had moved, even though there was no breeze.
When I bent down to look I saw two tiny red frogs that were no bigger than my
fingernail. They were perfectly camouflaged on the leaves in the woods and I
was thankful that I was able to see them before I stepped on them. I squatted
down and talked to them and wondered at their color and their tiny-ness and
their perfect ability to blend with their environment. I never cease to be
amazed at what can be seen in nature if I just take the time to quiet myself
and move slowly and ask to actually see the creatures that share their space
with me.
I also love the magic of the many
different kinds of mushrooms that I saw that are so varied in size, shape and
color and they sprang up over night in places that were vacant the day before.
Some look like delicate umbrellas for faeries, some look like gnarled pieces
of wood, some look like moonlight is shining on them even in the bright
sunlight, some are red, some are gold, and some look like pieces of coral from
under the sea. I am amazed by their beauty and their variety and by the
stories each of them tells.
My experience at High Place is one of
coming home. I do so dearly love the trees and all of the blessings of nature
and the earth and the critters and the wonders of being on earth and enjoying
the art of God.
Thank you, Wanda, for sharing your
wonderful High Place with us. It is THE perfect place for a Spiritual Retreat.
Love to you always,
Thea

GIRLFRIENDS
WEEKEND
We came for a girls getaway only to find your cabin exceeded our expectations! The design and all the cabins extras made this getaway very special. We kept saying,
”we love this place!” Everything exceeded our expectations! We all loved your décor and the quaint touches in every vignette. The outdoor living area was so relaxing and the outdoor kitchen made it so we had no need to be inside! Hummingbirds visited in the morning and evenings! A huge but sweet dog visited one night. I’ll be booking again and have passed your card on to a couple of friends! Thanks for making it a true retreat!

Hi Wanda,
Thank you so very much for allowing us to come and enjoy your home this past week. We were in much need of some rest and relaxation. We just enjoyed our time together. We got to experience seeing deer and some river animals too. Our meals we prepared were better here than at home. It was a a bonus for us to meet the neighbor dog Ivan, and watching him jump into the river. We hope to return someday.
Have a blessed year,
Chuck & Shelia G.

Dear Wanda,
We had a wonderful Florida experience with our kids, Alessandra, and Miguel, and their cousins, Claudia and Daniela. We believe that they will remember our beautiful place and it’s surroundings for the rest of their lives. We also very much
Enjoyed the Ichetucknee tubing experience with our families. Our wives, two very close sisters separated by an ocean, very much enjoyed sharing their homemaking experience in your cozy country house. Thanks for the opportunity to be here this weekend.

Dear Wanda,
My family had a fabulous reunion at your beautiful retreat this weekend. What
a perfect setting for sharing meals, stories, games, walks, paddles down the
river, and just being together. My daughter was in heaven. She waded in the
springs, pretended among the cypress knees, collected "families" of twigs,
paddled up close to turtle families and delighted in their "plop plop
plopping" into the water, swung on the hammock, and designated the gazebo as
her "friend" Sara's house. Every time we headed back to your home she said,
"We're going back to Wanda's house!" And she was delighted to discover the
thoughtfully placed surprises to play with when indoors. She, like we, were
sorry to leave yesterday. Thank you so much for sharing your "labor of love"
with all of us, as it is truly a little piece of paradise. On behalf of my
parents, my in-laws, and my own family, thank you for a lovely little
vacation.

What
a beautiful place! I found this
"oasis" when looking for a place to stay while diving Ginnie Springs. When we
travel, I have a few "musts." I'm not a camper. I want the outdoor rustic
feeling with all the amenities. We found it at Rum Island Retreat. We loved
the outdoor kitchen, the decor of the house and the secluded location. All in
all, it fit our needs to a tee.
We surely hope to return for a repeat
visit. Wanda, you are a wonderful hostess. You made us feel that we were very
welcome in your home away from home. I'm so glad that we had the opportunity
to meet you. We could tell that you had a great love for the house, and that
made it all the more enjoyable. Thanks for a great stay.
Sincerely,
Mac, Beth
and Graham McWilliams
